HOME REPAIR AVAILABLE FOR LOW-INCOME RESIDENTS - As the weather heats up in Tucson, Mayor Jonathan Rothschild is reminding low-income residents that help is available for emergency home repairs, including fixing a swamp cooler. IMA CAT New Office – Please send all official correspondence to the Tucson Urban League in care of the IMA CAT, 2305 S Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85713.

 

The IMA CAT Domain Leaders Meeting will be Friday, August 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tucson Urban League.  Please meet with the people in your domain prior to this meeting. If you can’t make it, please call in or send a representative. The IMA Executive Council Meeting will take place on the same date and location but at 1:00 p.m.  These meetings ARE NOT OPEN for the general public.

 

The IMA CAT Meeting will be held Monday, August 21, 2017, at the Dunbar Pavilion, 325 West 2nd Street. The clergy will meet at 4:30 p.m. and the community will meet at 5:30 p.m. The IMA CAT Sponsor for August is Pilgrim Rest MBC. The Education Domain will be in charge. We will have several local politicians and media coverage. Like us on Facebook at "IMA Community Action Team” and follow us on Twitter- @IMATUCSONCAT. This meeting IS OPEN to the general public. 

 

IMA - Churches can still pay their assessment for the year: large churches $300, medium churches $200 and small churches $100. Also clergy can pay their dues at this time as well. Dues for the year are $120 for Pastors and $60 for Associate Ministers. Please make all checks payable to the IMA. You can also mail your check to the IMA, P. O. Box 41491, Tucson, AZ 85717-1491.

 

IMA CAT Dues: Sowing Into Where We Are Going. Dr. Holt asked those in attendance at our last meeting to make a monthly commitment to support the vision of the IMA CAT so we’ll have resources to keep moving ahead. For example, we have just finished setting up an office in the Tucson Urban League. Recently, we purchased a filing cabinet and new computer. He asked each member to consider giving at least $10 a month. We will have envelopes for you at our next meeting. Please make all checks payable to the IMA CAT. The NAACP meets at the Donna Liggins Center, 2160 N. 6th Ave, every 2nd Monday unless otherwise announced from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  They are looking for new members. Annual membership fee is only $30.00. Pastor Alma Jones is a prayer moderator for Bible Way Ministries, located in Atlanta, Ga. She hosts prayers for “Those In Authority” and a “Pastor’s Prayer Line” every Friday morning, 3:00 a.m. - 4:00 a.m. MST. The numbers for this prayer line: 1-605-475-3235, access code 153465. 38th Annual SDA Prayer Breakfast will be on June 3, 2017 at the Hilton Tucson, 7600 E. Broadway, from 8:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. The theme is “Power of Prayer”, James 5:13-16. Dr. Carnella Hardin, PMBSC of AZ Woman’s Auxiliary President will be our guest speaker. The donation is $25 for adults and $12.50 for children under the age of 12. Rising Star MBC, 2800 E. 36th Street, will have their Vacation Bible SchoolJuly 10-13, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Dinner will be served from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. followed by praise and worship in the church sanctuary. Afterwards everyone will then be released for class from 7:00 p.m. to 7:50 p.m.  Then we will then return to the sanctuary for a quick review and prayer. On July 13, 2017 VBS will end at 8:30 p.m., due to all classes participating in a 2-3 minute presentation on what they learned throughout the week. VOTERS APPROVE SALES TAX FOR PUBLIC SAFETY AND ROADS - Voters in the City of Tucson overwhelmingly approved a new, five-year, half-cent sales tax to fund public safety capital needs and road repairs. Unofficial results show 41,260 voters approved the plan, while 25,413 did not. Participation in the mail-in election was about 26 percent. Proposition 101 is predicted to raise $250 million over five years, with $150 million being used for public safety needs and the remaining $100 million used to fund road repairs. The average cost per Tucson resident is estimated to be approximately $3 per month. TUCSON EMPLOYER ADDING HUNDREDS OF JOBS - Bayview Asset Management, LLC (a nationwide investment and mortgage finance company) is expanding its operations in Tucson, according to an announcement today by Sun Corridor Inc. Bayview says it plans to hire an additional 375 people in key financial roles. The company is located in the University of Phoenix building at 300 S. Craycroft Road, and it plans to add a second location at 5151 E. Broadway Blvd. The new space will add about 40,000 square feet across three floors.
